The world as we see it right now, is riddled with hatred, segregation, and fear. There is not a week that goes by that we don’t hear about some heinous act or natural disaster; not to mention the ongoing issues faced in a lot of countries. I have always been of the belief that love conquers fear. Both cannot co-exist; you either act out by fear or by love. And that’s why I relish in wearing such fashion, that exuberate’s love and joyfulness. Colour can really alter your state of mind, and so can a simple printed tee, such as this Love Society gem from Ganni.
Red has long been know as the colour of love due to its association with passion, desire and romance. It’s often why we give red roses to our loved ones, drive red sports cars to feel empowered and wear red dresses to feel sensual. Due to my science background (and seeing a lot of blood every day – sorry) I associate red with blood, which is the source of life; delivering oxygen and nutrients to all parts of the body. But interestingly, I also see green as the colour of love, but perhaps, more so on a universal level. Green is often associated with the colour of healing, nature, balance and good health. To me, that is a subset of love. And that’s why these colours together make me feel content and at ease. All the things you feel when you act out of love, and not fear.
I know it seems a bit deep, considering it’s just fashion. But I think it’s good to be grounded by such beliefs. When you feel passionately about something so pure, you radiate good energy into the universe, and all those around you benefit. And if fashion reminds you of your beliefs, than that in itself is a positive step forward.
I think we over-complicate everything nowadays. When you take a step back, you realise that every good thing that has happened to you has derived from your core beliefs.
“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny. ”
Aside from the obvious statement a printed tee makes, they are truly having a fashion moment right now, and I love it! They’re so easy to style; be it with jeans, skirts, under blazers, with shorts, or over your gym gear. As always, opt for cotton over synthetic tees. They’re not only inexpensive, but they’re breathable and easy to iron. And if you’re feeling extra cool, why not try wearing one dressed up with heels and a pair of statement earrings!
