This week’s post focuses on the ultimate classic outfit for summer, year after year; a silk cami, high waisted cream shorts, brown slides, leopard print belt and scarf. All of these pieces are from a neutral palette, giving it a timeless, effortless look. But for me, it didn’t just showcase the perfect summer’s outfit. Read on!
I think we can get caught up in the glitz and glamour of fashion and social media. Particularly coming out of the festive season, where we may have overindulged in the shopping department. But it’s important to stay grounded, and focus on what truly matters. And if you haven’t noticed, I’m not talking just about fashion here! Things come and go, but your family and friends will feed your deeper human needs; such as love, security and happiness.
In a world full of social media and instant gratification, try to be present in the moment, and listen more than you talk. Your relationships and life goals will be so much more satisfying when you are 100% present. Things, technology and online shopping won’t feed your soul. Talking to interesting people, watching the world go by, and reading, will.
And you can achieve complete contentedness when you know yourself, stand up for yourself, and stay true to yourself, as you leave no room for feelings of incompetence, insecurities and invalidness. So this translates to fashion by taking the time to understand yourself, so you don’t spend time and money purchasing fashion items that you hardly wear, or regret buying. Life is too short. Fashion is meant to clothe you, enhance your personality, provide comfort and security. It shouldn’t be a means for seeking attention. And not the good attention! Use it to showcase an extension of the person you are.
Sometimes you need small reminders on this notion. For me, it was this outfit and photoshoot. I think it has something to do with the natural palette…bringing me back to nature.
However you find inspiration, remember to take in the true beauty of life. Nurture your relationships, go after your dreams and enjoy the moment.
